Finasteride is a tablet taken by mouth once a day, following your clinician's instructions. There's no special timing. Most men take it with or without food, at whatever time they'll remember. It works only while you keep taking it, so consistency matters. Message your care team before stopping or changing anything.
You can cancel anytime from your online patient portal. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts. Canceling won't stop an order already sent to the pharmacy. If your order is still pending, contact support and we'll help.

Finasteride is prescribed to adult men with male-pattern hair loss, meaning thinning at the crown or a receding hairline. It isn't right for everyone, and it is not prescribed to women. A licensed clinician reviews your health history, your medications, and what's happening with your hair to decide whether it's appropriate for you.
Male-pattern hair loss is driven largely by DHT, a hormone that gradually shrinks hair follicles until they stop producing visible hair. Finasteride lowers DHT, which may help slow that process and support the hair you still have. It acts on the pattern of loss itself, and some plans pair it with minoxidil when a clinician thinks that fits.
It's a small tablet taken by mouth once a day, with or without food. Your clinician sets the strength and schedule and explains how to take it. Pick a time you'll remember and stay consistent, since the medication only works while you keep taking it. Message your care team before changing or stopping.
Hair grows slowly, so nothing changes overnight. Men who respond often describe less shedding first, with any visible change taking several months of consistent daily use, usually three to six months before a fair assessment, and longer to judge fully. Results depend on staying on it: if you stop, the effect fades over the following months.
Most men tolerate it well. A minority report sexual side effects such as lower libido or difficulty with erections, and some report mood changes or low mood. Tell your clinician if either shows up. Women who are or may become pregnant must not take finasteride or handle broken or crushed tablets, as it can harm a developing male baby.
